How can we ensure that pupils (kindergarten, primary, secondary and higher) can use their strengths to learn? How do we ensure that we, as a school, map out the strengths of pupils so that they can use them to bridge their weaknesses? How can we ensure that pupils can do this individually in order to develop a stronger self image and more confidence in themselves (and in education)? How do we shift the culture of the school so that teachers and pupils first see the positive things and the negative things afterwards?
Those are the questions that fascinate me immensely. I work out projects for schools in which this is possible, give advice and help teachers to make the mind switch to use the strengths and passion of students during their learning process. Before that, I developed the didactic framework and I fall back on more than 25 years of experience. I help pupils of all ages who get stuck.
I always start from what a school or student needs and only adjust the learning or working process, responding to the strengths and passion of who is in front of me. Starting from strengths and passion is starting from the vision that there are no standard solutions and even fewer miracle solutions. Customisation works.
